Welcome...
Welcome to the homepage of Giddyup-Horse rescue. We are located in Rural Holt, Mo. I am currently not a 501(not for profit), but working on it. At the time, all the care comes out of my pocket and I do all the work.
If you are ever in Holt, please feel free to stop by and see us!

My story...
I grew up loving horses and always wanted one. I cleaned stalls at 14 so that I could ride. Horses are beautiful, magnificent creatures. In 2006, while browsing the internet, I came across an ad for a paint, Chloe. I had always wanted one so bought her. She was not handled much, but registered and gorgeous! I was boarding her somewhere as I didn't have any land then. I saw a 1 year old on the internet and fell in love with her. I got her and they brought her pasture mate, Dancer, age 3, to me as well. I named her Gracie and she is now 2 and Dancer is 4. Chloe is now 6. I had them board on land and got to thinking.. hmmm.. I have room for a few more. So I posted an ad stating I would take in unwanted horses. I got alot of responses and knew I couldnt take them all. I responded to one that was Peaches, a 30+ year old pony beaten with a board. She is blind from it and her knees are fused. She was my first rescue. Since then there have been many more as you will read. In October we moved to a place with 40 acres of beauty and all the horses are now with me. Yay!

About the horses:
Peaches: 30+ year old pony. Rescued in 2006. She was beaten, thin and is blind. She will live out her life here at the rescue. Everyone I talk to knows Ms. Peaches or have heard of her!

*******************************************************
Johnny: 17 year old Saddlebred. Rescued in 2007. Johnny was very thin and was even the poster child for Frontrunner feeds. He has gained weight and is a big love. He used to be a show horse and is gaited. He is the caretaker and guides Peaches to water. Gives big sloppy kisses! Johnny will not be up for adoption.

*****************************************************
Bubba: 17 years old Quarterhorse/Thorobred cross. Rescued in 2007. Bubba was brought to me because he has a leg injury that causes him to turn his hoof under and limp. He needs constant care with msm for joints and his hooves trimmed every few weeks. He's a big handsome boy and will live his life out here.
*****************************************************
Maiden: Foundation QH Mare. Rescued in 2008 with 5 others that were starved, have a skin condition, overgrown hooves. She is 1 of 3 that was pregnant when they got here. I had to work fast in 2 weeks as she was close. She foaled a healthy colt on 04/15 we named Nike. As you can see, she is still thin, but gaining. New photos of Maiden and Nike taken 05/15. Maiden & Nike have gone to new homes. I will miss little Nike!
****************************************************
Dixie: Palomino mare rescued in 2008 in foal with 5 others that were starved, have skin condition and overgrown hooves. Dixie foaled a healthy filly on 04/21. I had to deliver but she is fine. New photos of Dixie & Mocha taken 05/15. Dixie & Mocha have gone to new homes. I'll miss Mocha.
****************************************************
Verty: QH Mare rescued in 2008 in foal with 5 others that were starved, have skin condition, and overgrown hooves. She wasn't as thin as the others, but still has problems. She is a gorgeous horse and was branded at some time. Verty has found a new home!
****************************************************
Goldie: Palomino mare that was rescued in 2008 with 5 others that were starved, have skin conditions and overgrown hooves. Goldie has gone to a home. She was a sweety.e.
****************************************************
Mia: 3 year old paint that was rescued in 2008 with 5 others that were starved, have skin conditions and overgrown hooves. Mia has gone with the rest to a new home for now.
*****************************************************
Livvy: 3 year old QH that was rescued in 2008 with 5 others that were starved, have skin conditions and overgrown hooves. Small for her age and was the worse condition of them all. Very timid. Livvy has found a new home. Her coat came back in Golden shiny.
*****************************************************
Boots: Quarterhorse that was placed here in 04/08. She is still trying to find her position in the herd. Boots is doing good and is trusting me more. She still has a problem with kicking when nervous.
*****************************************************************************
My 3 girls, Dancer, Gracie, and Chloe, not rescues.

****************************************************************************
Sundance: Little Mini that was the worse in a miniature horse rescue in Missouri. He was left for dead in a pasture and covered in maggots. After much surgery and care, Lisa contacted me to see if I could give him a forever retirement home. He has already won our hearts and is such a sweety. He came to us on 06/22/08.
Little Sundance went to horse heaven yesterday, July 5th. He was laying down and when I went to him, he died a few seconds later in my arms. Even tho he was here a short time, he will be missed. He was in such bad health when rescued that maybe his body just shut down. I see him now running with the others up there. Goodbye sweet prince. God will take care of you.
******************************************************
Lucky, a Mini stud I had gotten for a friend for Sundance. But he being a stud, he took over the mares instead and is trying his hardest to mate with them. He is 20 and a beauty. He is still very "studly" and would make beautiful babies. I don't have papers on him. He needs to be adopted asap as right now he is stalled and is going nuts.
Our Mission:
Our mission is to either give a horse a forever home here or rehab them and find them a forever home. These horses deserve a 2nd chance. No horse should be treated this way. While they are here, they will be loved, spoiled, respected, fed, groomed, and trimmed. I have a strong bond with each and every one of them from the time they get here. Almost every horse has come here to retire and not left.
If interested in adopting one of our horses, please email us. Each person will be screened of course and a small adoption fee will apply.
We always need both monetary donations as well as horse items. If you can give, even a few dollars, it is appreciated by me and of course the horses! Thank you.
